As partners, we strive for excellence to instill a love for learning so that your child will reach his/her highest potential. Archbishop Ryan School is a community of learners. I want you to feel that you are an integral part of our learning community. The principal, teachers, students, parents, secretary, teacher assistants, interpreter, early interventionist, librarian, and music therapist share in your child’s education. One of the most powerful ways to learn is from each other. A firm belief in a Catholic education makes Archbishop Ryan unique. Your involvement and sacrifice to send your child to Archbishop Ryan demonstrates your strong parent involvement. I feel blessed to be appointed as your principal and look forward to undertaking this exciting journey with you and your children. The fulfillment of this mission is rooted in the following: 1) That the essential purpose of Catholic education is to form the faith received at Baptism, in collaboration with parents and parish communities, through the proclamation of the Gospel; building up of a community of faith, true worship and service in the love of Jesus Christ. 2) That all schools of catechetical formation (Parish Religious Education Programs, Parish Elementary and Archdiocesan Secondary Schools, Special Education Schools, the Newman Apostolate, and Youth Ministry Programs), enlivened by an encounter with the Risen Christ, are communities of hope, to be reflected in the lives of the faculties, staff and students in these schools. 3) That all schools are dynamic learning communities engaged in mentoring, encouraging and supporting one another through sound spiritual, intellectual, social, athletic, and service programs. 4) That visionary leadership, rooted in the Gospel, involves availability to and service of those responsible for the catechetical formation of persons. 5) That catechetical formation is a 'life-long' process. Schools of Special Education We are committed to providing children with special needs an education that meets their spiritual, academic (cognitive), emotional, and psychological needs. Our schools for children with cognitive impairments provide training in life skills and functional academics to help the students reach their full potential and become valuable and contributing members in their community. Our sensory schools strive to meet the needs of students with visual impairments or who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our Elementary Learning Disabilities Program is designed to meet the needs of students with specific learning disabilities. In two of the Archdiocesan high schools, we conduct programs for Secondary students with learning disabilities. We endeavor to provide learning strategy classes and offer support to the students with regard to other subjects being studied. Our teachers and staff are carefully screened and selected based upon their unique educational qualifications and commitment to special education.
